Mike Fields Once a Marine always a Marine, Mike Fields fought hard through his 67th birthday. After being exposed to contaminated water at Camp Lejeune and Agent Orange in Vietnam, the proud veteran succumbed to multiple cancers, including pancreatic and prostate. He passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 11th, 1950, he grew up in Lake Twp., hunting and fishing. He met his soul mate Lorraine "Chubs" in Kent, and together they had two children, Mike and Shelby, who became the center of their 42 years of marriage. Along with teaching the kids about love, respect, and honor, hunting was Mike's true passion. Later in life, he fulfilled a dream when he purchased his own hunting property and built a cabin, where he enjoyed spending over a decade with his "Leper Colony" friends and family. In addition to being a 32nd Degree Freemason, he was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Pauline Fields; sister, Linda Fields Morris; as well as his grandparents, nephew, and several other family members and close friends. Mike is survived by the love of his life, "Chubs”; son, Michael (Jennifer) Fields; daughter, Shelby (Erik) Reynolds and grandbabies, Tatum & Kai Reynolds; sister, Patricia (Jack) Fields-Jones; brother-in-law, Al (Lorraine) Collard; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral service will be held Saturday, 2 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Avenue). Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. Friends and family will be received at the funeral home Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Humane Society of Stark or Summit County, or Hospice of Visiting Nurse Services of Summit County.
