Robert "Bob" V. Schoch

MOGADORE -- Robert “Bob” V. Schoch, age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 24, 2017. Born in Bradford, Pa. to Robert and Doris Schoch, Bob was a resident of Mogadore since 1956. He was employed as a General Foreman for Asplundh Tree Expert Co. for 46 years before retiring in 1992. Bob attended Kent Grace Baptist Church. He loved to spend time swimming at the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium where he made many friends over the years. Bob was an avid hunter who enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially looking at and identifying the beautiful trees. He helped many Boy Scouts obtain their forestry merit badges, sharing his knowledge about the species of trees with them. Bob was a very loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Frances (nee Spallino); he is survived by his children, Linda (Robert) Cook, Rich (Margie) Schoch, Phil (Tina) Schoch and Denise (Len) Hastie; grandchildren, Jason (Rayma) Cook, Thomas (Rochelle) Cook, Sarah Cook, Brandi (Steven) Hostetler, Jami (Bill) Englehart, Chad (Ashley) Schoch, Eric and Emma Schoch, Amanda and Nathan Hastie; great grandchildren, Hannah, Owen, Andrew, Aiden, Lucas and “soon to be born,” Madison; brother, Carl L. (Jennifer); and sister, Phyllis (Harold) Buvoltz. He will be missed by other relatives and friends. To those who knew Bob well, have an “atta-boy” and remember the stories. Funeral service will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at Grace Baptist Church in Kent, 5915 Rhodes Road, Kent, Ohio 44240, with Pastor Bruce Chouinard officiating. Friends and family will be received Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312, and on Friday, one hour prior to the service at the church, from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Mogadore.
