Earle Curtis Cameron

Earle Curtis Cameron Jr. The world lost a dear man and heaven gained a faithful servant on October 25, 2017 when Earle Curtis Cameron Jr., age 74, went home to be with His Lord. His life of love and kindness began in Warren, Ohio, but he later raised his children in Suffield. Earle graduated from Youngstown State University where his future wife Patricia first offered a bite of her lunch to him. Always a hard worker, he served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He later retired from Stow City Schools, where he taught Math. During the 17 years after retiring, he volunteered at Akron Children’s Hospital, preached sermons in a nursing home, taught his grandchildren to play checkers, and continued to work as a substitute teacher. His students didn’t call him Mr. Rogers simply because he swapped his suit jacket out for one of the sweaters he kept in his locker at school each day. He also carried the same essence: Kindness, Gentleness, Humility, Respect, Innocence, Simplicity. There are few who have lived such a life. And he would give all the glory to God. He is remembered for his presence full of energy...happy, joyful, eager to work and eager to chat. Always considering others. He was willing to try new things, starting piano lessons late in life. He navigated his daughter’s Turkish neighborhood using little papers with Turkish sentences written out. He was always delighted to meet new people and hear their stories. His humility kept him from admitting it, but he could truly do anything he set his mind to. He enjoyed attending car shows and fixing cars, and also liked gardening. He would take interest in what his children and grandchildren were interested in. He was a provider and protector, a hero to his family. Rarely angry or impatient, his gentle and quiet spirit will be forever missed. Earle lived the life described in these verses: I Thessalonians 4:11-12 “...make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.” Micah 6:8 “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you? But to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Preceded in death by his parents, Earle and Rose, he is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia; children, Kristin (Curtis) Meder, Karen (Ramazan) Arkan, Josh (Amy) Cameron, and Sharon (Robert) Tittl; grandchildren, Zeke, Alayna, Eden, Joshua, Luke, Alexa, Levi, Arthur, and Ember; brother, Rod Cameron; and sister, Sally Rickert. Friends and family will be received Monday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, Uniontown, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) Funeral service will be Tuesday, 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Greg Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Akron Children’s Hospital or Faith Bible Church, North Canton, Ohio.
