Faye N. East, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2016.
Born in Akron, she grew up in Lakemore and was a lifelong area resident. Faye graduated from Springfield High School in the Class of 1951. She was a member of Lakemore United Methodist Church, Edwin Shaw Hospital Auxiliary, the Junior Women’s Civic Club and the American Heart Association. Faye was a dedicated volunteer for 25 years with the Akron Children’s Hospital Tree Festival. She also enjoyed volunteering with Mobile Meals, Camp Quality, the World Golf Championship and the All-American Soap Box Derby. Faye was a two-time breast cancer survivor. Above all, she was a loving mother and grandmother.
Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Cevera Pouncey; an infant daughter; brothers, Leon and Harris Jr.; and by her former husband, Dr. Glenn East. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Lone; grandchildren, Caitlin and Dane East; brothers, Sid (June) and Wayne (Ruth) Pouncey; sister and best friend, Pat Jarrard; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Monday, 11 a.m. at Lakemore United Methodist Church, 1536 Flickinger Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Rev. Pamela Gable officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday. Because of Faye’s love for her work with the children, the family suggests memorials in her name to Camp Quality Ohio, P.O. Box 2462, Akron, OH 44309.
