Joyce A. Bowers

July 14, 1937 - April 26, 2022

Joyce Ann Bowers was recently called to Heaven leaving behind her son, Doctor Neil Bowers and wife Sandra; eldest grandson, Ben Bowers and wife Tracey with son Charlie; youngest grandson, Chris Bowers and wife Jenna. In her youth, she worked on the largest family dairy in Northwest W.V. and attended Fairmont State Teachers College. She spent 38 years teaching children in Springfield Twp. She was instrumental in establishing both the kindergarten program and primary reading clinic. Outside the classroom, she was involved in church work, vegetable gardening, selling honey, raising exotic poultry, and developing a pastry business. She retired a member of the American Business Women Association, Eastern Star, and Kappa Kappa Iota sorority where she sat as a 5 year president of their Beta chapter. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 4th at 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Friends and family will be received from 10:30 a.m. until the start of service. Burial will follow at Markillie Cemetery in Hudson.
