Karen Lynn Ford (nee Gabric)

June 23, 1948 — January 27, 2021

Karen age 72, passed away early Wednesday, January 27th, 2021. She was born in Akron, but lived in Green the majority of her life. Karen graduated from Green High School. She received her higher education from Malone College and later completed her master’s degree. Karen taught at Manchester Local Schools for over 30 years, where she also assisted with and directed the high school plays and musicals. She was a member of the Yacht Club and on the Green High School class of 1966 Reunion Planning Committee. She loved waterskiing and boating. In her spare time she liked to sew, read, and spend time with friends and former colleagues. Karen was a supportive mother and grandmother who attended her son’s soccer games, edited her daughter’s novels, and helped her grandkids with online schooling. Karen was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Ronald W. Ford; mother, Audrey Gabric-Capple and father Carl Gabric. She is survived by her daughter, Mindy S. Ford Mink (Charles); son, Matthew S. Ford (Samantha Etto); grandchildren, Ford, Emmett, Liam, Riley; and sister, Linda S. Postek. Due to current restrictions a private funeral for the family will take place on Wednesday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Pastor Lennie McKinney will be officiating. A celebration of life will take place at a later date where friends, colleagues, and students may attend.
