Louise Webster

October 27, 1927 - September 16, 2020

Louise Webster, 92, passed away on September 16, 2020. Born on October 7, 1927 in Youngstown Ohio, she relocated with her young family to Akron (Ellet) in 1962. From there she operated her home-based print shop business for nearly three decades. At age 42 Louise was diagnosed with a terminal liver disease. She struggled with this until the age of 59, when literally at death’s doorstep, she received a life-saving liver transplant. The family will be forever grateful to the anonymous donor that allowed Louise’s life to continue for another 33 years. During those years she volunteered for Ellet cluster PTAs, the National Inventor’s Hall of Fame, First Night Akron, and her most favorite, the Ellet Branch Library. Louise had a great love of books, and those old, unwanted books leftover from library book sales always seemed to find a home with her. Over the years, she had built a personal library consisting of hundreds of books, and when she later moved to Rockynol, her collection was donated (with some going back to the library). Much to her family’s amusement, another new library soon started to grow in her apartment at Rockynol, with various visitors and staff adding to her new collection. Louise was preceded in death by her loving husband, William; mother, Pauline Adams; and sister, Shirley Larson. She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Marie Webster; her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Mark Schweitzer; her grandchildren, Andrea Webster, Michael (Meghan) Webster, Lauren Schweitzer and Andy Schweitzer, and great grandchildren, Landon and Jackson. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 21 at 11 a.m. at the Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, September 20 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and Monday, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Masks are required. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please consider becoming an organ donor. (Hopkins Lawver, AKRON, 330-733-6271) www.hopkinslawver.com
