Mary Regina Giovanini (McCausland)

Mary Regina Giovanini (McCausland), age 85, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, February 23rd, 2016 at Bath Manor in Bath. She was born at home in Akron, Ohio on September 26, 1930 to James and Phebe (Owens) McCausland. She was the second oldest of seven children. Mary loved to cook. She often made Italian food, a cuisine she learned from her mother-in-law. Her family fondly remembers summer get-togethers in her large yard. Along with hosting gatherings of friends and family, Mary loved to tend to her garden. Early on she excelled as a waitress working at Wong’s and The Tea House, both in downtown Akron at the time. Mary worked later on for a telephone answering service. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Louis C. Giovanini. She is survived by her son, Louis D. Giovanini; siblings, James (Betty) McCausland, Delores Kiser, Barbara Volk, David McCausland, Daniel McCausland, and Theresa Tostado; and many nieces and nephews. Mary will be remembered for her great kindness, giving much needed support to family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016, 1 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91) in Ellet. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Hopkins Lawver. Her family would like to extend their gratitude to Crossroads Hospice Care and to all the staff at the Bath Manor for their attentiveness and loving care.
