Nina A. Gilliem

January 25, 1932 - February 16, 2022

Nina A. Gilliem, age 90 of Hartville, Ohio was welcomed to her eternal home by her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Nina lived her life as a faithful follower of Jesus, her Savior. A Louisville native, Nina was the daughter of the late Ruth Royer and Russell Royer. She was a graduate of Louisville High School and earned an Elementary Education degree from Wheaton College. Nina enjoyed a long career as an educator, teaching third grade and first grade and having a positive influence on the lives of many children at Lake Cable Elementary in the Jackson Local School System. Nina enjoyed playing board and card games with her family and her much-loved group of “Game Day” friends, an activity that helped keep her mind sharp through the years. She was a member of The Chapel in North Canton. Nina is survived by her daughter Laurie (Andy) Gankoski of Hartville; her grandchildren Kelsey (Daniel) Foote of Akron and Riley Gankoski of Canal Fulton; her great-grandchildren Aveilyn, Judah and Rebecca; her sister-in-law Wanda Royer of Canton; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Brian Gilliem; her brothers Dan Royer and Russell Jack Royer; and her sister Jane Albert. Special thanks to Nina’s many friends and caregivers at Altercare of Hartville. A celebration of Nina’s life will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale St. NW Uniontown, Ohio 44685, beginning at 12:00 PM.
