Patricia Josephine Miller (nee McDivitt)

October 18, 1937 — September 22, 2015

October 18, 1937 - September 22, 2015 Forever In Our Hearts "Patty Jo” was born in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania and even in the most adverse conditions has always seen spring! She graduated from Ellet High School in Akron, Ohio with a love of poetry and a dream 'to live in a little house on a hill with a white picket fence. The metaphor of her dreams came true when she met and married the love of her life, George W. Miller III in 1965. George loved her and their joy of being together was true and deep. Early jobs included working with Honeywell, Quaker Oats, as a certified tax agent and working her own apple orchard with George. Pat lived a life of faith that continues to inspire her family and friends. She and George were very active members of the Church of the Nazarene. She loved being a wife and mom and did her very best with what she knew. She taught her children ‘life arts’ including; gardening, cleaning, household maintenance, piano attempts, bee keeping, swimming. Hobbies were wide and varied as she had a curiosity about everything and she had a passion for miniatures. Her angelic voice and favorite songs will continue to resonate. Pat loved singing. It lifted her and her children delighted in it. Mom’s Sunday family dinners were always a warm highlight that sealed the unconditional love she had for family life. We have missed our mom in some ways for 15 years since her stroke at 62 years of age. She lived in the wonderful care of The Merriman for a decade and continued to be engaged and engaging. Mom recently began talking about 'going home' and the Lord lit her path - too soon for us, yet perfectly timed for her. We rejoice in her peace and her reuniting with dad, her beloved. Pat is the beloved daughter, granddaughter and sister of Marie (Dec’d) and Grant McDivitt (Dec’d), Della Josephine McDivitt (Dec’d) and siblings; Jim (Dec’d) and Barbara McDivitt, Gayle Miller (Robert), Bonnie Fender (Gary), Joy Stanley (Charles). She is the mother of her loving; children; Bob Humble (Lisa Humble), Holly Bright, George W. Miller IV (Susan Miller) and Michael Alan Miller (Angel Ashby-Miller), grandchildren; Sarah Humble, Isabella Bree Miller, step grandchildren Cassandra and Alexander Orosz, and many cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews. 'With mom gone, whose eyes to compare with the morning sun? Not that I did compare, But I do compare. Now that she's gone.’ (paraphrase of Leonard Cohen) Family and friends will be received Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at Southeast Church of the Nazarene, 771 Dunbar Road, Tallmadge, Ohio 44278. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph.
