Ronald M "Chuck" Conring

October 12, 1939 — April 27, 2017

Ronald M. “Chuck” Conring Ronald M. Conring, 77, died April 27, 2017 after a battle with lung cancer. He was born October 12, 1939 in Pecos, Texas to Milton McAlister and Corynne (Martin) Conring. Spending his early years in Texas, he was raised on a cotton farm in Batesville where his mother instilled in him the rewards of hard work, knowledge and kindness to all living things. Ronald was a proud Eagle Scout, where he earned many badges and accolades. He graduated from Uvalde High School in 1957, attended San Angelo College and was a member of the Texas National Guard. When the family got together in Rock Springs, they shared so many heartwarming and hilarious memories of their life together on the farm. As he got older, he yearned to know his father and step siblings in Ohio, so he left Texas and headed to Kenmore. There he shared life with his brothers and sisters and settled into city living and acquired the nick name Chuck. After many years in building maintenance and HVAC repairs, his father Mac introduced him to computers and he found his true calling. Chuck became a self-taught computer programmer, specializing in Clarion and later became a sought after web developer. He was a co-owner in Bar Electronics which he founded with his friend, Bill Florek and later started Conring Automation systems that he never fully retired from. Ron touched so many lives and was admired for his skill and knowledge, not only in computers, but building anything from gazebos to beds and fixing anything that was broken. He will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched, including his best buds, Gary Hill and Walt Peters. Preceded in death by his parents and step parents, Robert and Corynne Conring, Milton and Mary McAlister; and brother, Tommy McAlister. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nancy; step daughters, Dawn (Dwayne) Klooster of Bradenton, FL and Lois (Arlan) Spoto of Myrtle Beach, SC; brothers, Robert (Idalia) Conring of GA;, Lane (Elaine Conring), of Texas; John (KayLyn) McAlister, FL; sisters, Barbara Meyette, Annette (Lanny) Dowell, all of Texas, Marylou Symanski of Akron; sisters in spirit, Kathleen and Elizabeth; many nieces and nephews. Ron was the loving son and big brother in two wonderful families. Thank you to all the personnel at Summa Health Care, the staff at the Parkview Center and especially the in-home nursing and aide staff who took such good care of Ron in his final days. Cremation has taken place. Friends and family will be received 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. In lieu of flowers, please carry on Ron’s legacy of giving a helping hand to anyone in need without expecting anything in return. He used to say that was his rungs up the ladder to Heaven.
