Ruby Mae (Edwards) Valk On Sunday, December 6, 2015, Ruby Mae (Edwards) Valk, 94, passed away peacefully and was reunited with her husband, Dale, and her daughter, Penny. Ruby was born August 25, 1921 in Akron, Ohio as the youngest child of Frank Earl Edwards and Ethel Mae (Sarver) Edwards. She was a 1939 graduate of Central High School. In 1940, Ruby met Dale Fredrick Valk, they were married November 8, 1941, and were blessed with two children, Penelope Sue and Dale Edward. Ruby will be remembered as being selfless and always putting others before herself. She was respected for her family values. Her grandchildren express immense gratitude for all her sacrifices in helping to raise them. Ruby was the happiest when she was with them. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; brothers, Donald and Harry Edwards; her daughter, Penny; and son-in-law, Gary Halliwill. Her legacy of love will continue through her son, Dale; her three grandsons, Dale (Tania), Scott (Kathy) and Mark (Kimberly); four great grandchildren, Ashley (Todd) Mayle, Tristen Halliwill, and Preslie and Paige; great grandchildren, Ava and Ethan Mayle. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron/Ellet, Ohio 44312, with Pastor Dwayne Cummings officiating. Friends and family will be received two hours prior to the service on Wednesday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Grandma, you will be greatly missed!
