Alma M. Wartko, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on April 8, 2021.
Born in Akron to Harry and Stella Miller, she lived in the Suffield/Randolph area her entire life.
Alma was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She lived by the credo: Live, Love, Laugh. She never met a social occasion that she did not like. Alma loved gathering with family and friends; playing euchre at Hillside, dining out, celebrating weddings and anniversaries, and especially her card club where they might have chatted more than they played cards. In spite of stepping out whenever she could, she was fond of saying, “I don’t get out much!” This was a ruse to get her children to take her out even more! And when she did step out, it was “all about the bling!” She had a lot of jewelry – never very expensive, but always large, colorful, and shiny.
Alma is preceded in death by her husband Telford Wartko and daughters Patricia Knapp and Connie Vlajkovich. She is survived by her children Dan Wartko, Becky (Kenny) May, Lou Anne (Craig) Welch, Janet Truog, Tony (Sanny) Wartko, Andy (Debby) Wartko; grandchildren Sandra (Dave), Andy (Kiki), Nicole (Brandon), Kris (Mel), Jenn, Heather (Jeff), Craig (Sara), Colleen (Greg), Austin, Eric (Kristin), Paige, Kirsten; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2643 Waterloo Road, Mogadore, Ohio 44260 from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 A.M. with Father Thomas Acker, S.J. presiding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
