Betty Lou Gross, age 93, went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2025.
Born on the family farm in Akron, Ohio to the late William A. and Florence P. (Otto) Farriss, she was a resident of Massillon (Jackson Twp) since 1958. After graduating from Greensburg High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Charles E. Gross and accompanied him while he served as a pilot in the United States Air Force. After completing his service in the Air Force, they purchased and settled on a farm in Jackson Twp. Betty has been the organist for Greensburg United Methodist Church for the past 77 years as well as establishing and being the bell choir director. Betty enjoyed working outdoors, attending musical concerts, and supporting her kids and grandkids activities, regardless of the weather.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Charles; brothers, Otto (Thelma) Farriss, Robert Farriss, William D. (Carol) Farriss; sisters, Helen (George) Halsey, Imogene (Herman) Bettler. Betty is survived by her son Kevin (Carla) Gross of Beloit and daughter Pamela (Denny) Dieffenbaugher of Massillon (Jackson Twp); grandchildren, Christy (Nick) Harp, Dr. Lindsay (Cadian) Hendricks, Thomas (Ashley) Gross, Patrick (Lauren) Gross; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on October 25, 2025 at 2pm at Greensburg United Methodist Church, 2161 Greensburg Rd., Green, OH 44232, with Rev. J. Harlen Rife officiating. The family will receive friends in the church from 1pm until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greensburg United Methodist Church. Graveside service and inurnment will be at 2:15pm on October 24, 2025 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
