Carol Ann Bowyer

June 17, 1934 — August 20, 2022

Carol Ann (Croskey) Bowyer passed peacefully on Saturday morning, August 20, 2022.

She entered this world the 17th of June, 1934 as the only daughter of Mary (Stillinger) and Ted Croskey in Akron, OH. With an abiding love for words and reading, she graduated valedictorian Springfield Senior High School in 1952 and went on to graduate with honors in English from the Kent State University four years later. She taught Jr. High English at the old Central Building and then at Schrop Jr. High School (now Schrop Intermediate) from the year it opened until the mid-80s when she retired.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, Bob, half-brother Brad (Renee) Croskey, and her oldest son, Dr. David (Melody) Bowyer. She is survived by her sons, Mark (Lesley) and Paul (Teresa) Bowyer as well as seven grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.

She loved her family deeply and taught her sons a rich love of learning. She and Dad loved to travel and literally traveled the globe in their retirement years.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 26th at the Clearview United Methodist Church, 1733 Massillon Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Condolences may be sent to Mark at 166 Shannon Ave. Mount Jackson, VA 22842 or Paul at 11891 Christian Ave. Concord, OH 44077.
