Carolyn S. McCabe

April 28, 1946 — December 11, 2025

Mogadore

Our beloved “Mamaw” is now singing with the angels in Heaven.

Carolyn Sue McCabe, affectionately known as “Honey,” went home to be with Jesus on December 11, 2025.

Born Carolyn Sue Searls on April 28, 1946, in Chelyan, West Virginia, to Harry and Della (Ebert) Searls, she spent her childhood and adolescence in West Virginia before moving to Akron, Ohio, in 1966. After marrying the love of her life, Eddie, on December 10, 1966, she lived most of the remainder of her life in Suffield, Ohio.

A doting mother and grandmother, she loved her children and grandchildren more than life itself, always making sure we all knew it through her words and her actions.

Mamaw loved the acronym “JOY”—Jesus, Others, and then Yourself—which she applied throughout her life. She always put her Lord and Savior first. She ministered to others using her God-given talent for singing, both at church and in gospel singing groups. She was a caregiver to many, often bringing them into her own home, including her special brother-in-law Georgie, to whom she dedicated six years of her life. When she did make time for herself, she loved tending her gardens, doing crafts, sewing, and baking—although it seemed there were always a few grandchildren helping!

She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, her brother Roger Lee, her granddaughter Brooke Brynn, and her best friends Sadie and Dale.

She will be sorely missed by her devoted husband, Eddie, who poured his life into caring for her over the past five years as her health declined; her son David; her daughter Kimberly (Timothy); her granddaughter whom she raised as her own, Brittany (Thomas); her grandson Alexander (Kia); and her granddaughters Cassidy (Geoffrey), Christina, Kaylie, and Karissa. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Mason, Ella Lee, Ella Jade, Zoey, and Andrew, as well as the significant others who are special to her granddaughters: Eddie, David, and Jesse.

She also leaves behind her siblings Lynn, Sue (George), Kay, Shelby (Cathy), and Keith; a multitude of nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Kim Trachsel.

Special thanks to Town Square Hospice—especially Brittany, Jamie, and Krystal—for their care in her final days.

A private “Homegoing Celebration” will be held.
