Charles Curtis Cottrell, 79, passed away on December 22, 2025.
Born in Akron, he was a resident of Uniontown. He graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School and served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1971. Chuck worked 30 plus years as a tool and die maker and eventually retired from Meladyne. He was a member of the VFW and DAV. He enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing, boating, traveling and was a car enthusiast. But most of all, he was devoted to his family.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. Cottrell and Lorene Cottrell. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rosemary Elizabeth Cottrell; daughters, Carrie Cottrell, Christy Lowe (Matt), Melissa Cottrell (Robert Smith); grandchildren, Ava Ramirez, Natalie Ramirez, Nicholas Ramirez, Colin Lowe, Liam Lowe; siblings, James Cottrell and Hazel Richards (Virgil).
Family and friends will be received Monday, December 29th from 4 to 7pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale St. NW, Uniontown, OH 44685. Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, December 30th at 10:30am at St. Matthew Parish, 2603 Benton Ave. Akron, OH 44312. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church one hour prior to mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
