Charles R. "Chuck" Mayreis

July 19, 1927 — June 25, 2020

Charles R. “Chuck” Mayreis passed away June 25, 2020. Chuck was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, having served on the U.S.S. Kermit Roosevelt in both the Asia Pacific and European theaters. He was born in Peoria, Illinois on July 19, 1927 and later moved to Akron, Ohio, where he spent the rest of his life. He retired from Lockheed Martin after 35 years of service which included Goodyear Aerospace. Chuck was preceded in death by his wife Fran, son Mike, daughter Barb George, sons-in-law Lee Salzwimmer and Ryan George, and granddaughters Kristina George and Jill Ziler. He is survived by his daughter Michele Salzwimmer, grandchildren Chuck Salzwimmer (Jen), Sue Loso (Jim), Lisa Burwell (Keith), Amy Goranitis (Pete), Ryan George (Tracey), and great grandchildren Alexa, Abby, Tyler, Sam, Olivia, Nico, and Gabrielle. Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service for the family was held. Many thanks to Amy, Sue and Lisa for the untiring care they gave to their grandfather. Thanks to Hospice of Western Reserve for their excellent care and Senior Helpers for the care they gave.
