Connie Jo Maag, 79, of Mogadore, passed away on April 6, 2026 surrounded by family and friends.
She was born on November 8, 1946 to Bill and Helen Kerzie.
A lifelong resident of Mogadore – Connie was most proud of establishing her hair salon in a town she loved for nearly 60 years. Connie opened her beauty shop in 1965 and worked until August of last year. Whether you were a regular in her chair or visited on occasion, Connie truly enjoyed every moment – keeping up on small-town happenings while doing the work she loved.
Above all else, Connie cherished her family. She was a proud and loving mother, but her greatest joy was being a grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she found endless happiness in the time she spent with them. Whether it was hosting Sunday dinners, decorating bikes for the Memorial Day parade, making Halloween costumes, attending a graduation, wedding, sporting event – she wouldn't have traded those days with her grandkids for anything.
She is survived by her 3 children, Gary (Patti) Maag, Kelli (Denny) Taylor, Chad (Tonya) Maag; grandchildren Jacqui (Micah), Bo (Lauren), Andrea (Alan), Holli (Cameron), Natalie (AJ), Ashlee (Jake), Conner, David, Maverick, Max; and 12 great grandchildren. Connie is also survived by her brother Billy (Rhonda) Kerzie, sister-in-law Linda Timblin and her dear friends Donna Weisand and Evie Eldreth. In addition to her friends and family, Connie is survived by her beloved fur baby, Rascal, who is in the loving care of Kelly and Kathy Crew.
Connie is preceded in death by the love of her life, Gary L. Maag of 57 years. Connie is also preceded in death by her parents, in laws Bill and Hazel Maag, and brother-in-law Ronald Timblin.
The family wants to extend a thank you to the wonderful staff at The HomeStead of GentleBrook for caring for Connie Jo like their own for the last 6 months. In addition to The HomeStead – the family thanks Rita and her team at Traditions Hospice for their endless love and support.
Connie will be missed more than we can put into words but her love was her legacy, and it will live on in every life she touched.
Friends and family will be received Sunday, April 12th at Donovan Funeral Home, 35 S. Cleveland Ave. Mogadore, OH 44260 from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Mogadore Historical Society.
