Craig Tucker, 63, of Akron, Ohio, was called into the loving arms of the Lord on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025. Having lived an active and healthy life, he quickly declined the last two months of his life from Liver and Colon Cancer.
Craig was born on February 27th, 1962 in Wadsworth, Ohio. He graduated from Doyelstown High School, where he was a member of the cross country and baseball teams. He continued his education at The University of Akron, studying Finance. At the young age of 19, Craig started a line striping business to paint parking lots. His business continued to grow to what became a successful asphalt paving and concrete company. After spending 40 years as a contractor, he closed his company and was looking forward to experiencing retirement adventures with his wife.
In 1991, Craig married his wife Terri and ten years later entered into his most cherished role as Dad, to his son Jackson. Before Jackson was 3 years old, the two of them began a yearly tradition, attending each Summer Saturday morning at the Hartville Flea Market. They made many friends with the weekly vendors as they searched for items they deemed as “treasures” for the summer. That tradition continued for 20 years.
Always an avid sports fan, Craig reveled in Jackson’s sport activities starting when he began karate at the age of 5, continuing with high school baseball and culminating with college cross country and track. Years passed before learning the many generous anonymous donations that provided for karate banquets and tournaments, baseball uniforms and snacks/meals for college teams.
Craig had a deep connection with nature and enjoyed staying active outside nurturing his plants, gardens and landscaping projects to create a natural habitat for small animals, bats and birds.
He was a decades long member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and American Breweriana Collectors Association.
Craig is survived by his wife of 33 years, Terri; his son, Jackson; mom, Marlene; dad, Luther; brothers, Todd (Kim) and Matt (Shayanna); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday, July 8th at 5pm at Springfield Church of the Brethren, 3500 Albrecht Ave. Akron, OH 44312. Memorial service will begin at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dale McCutcheon’s Martial Arts by Evan Gatte, 2825 Edison St. NW, Uniontown, OH 44685.
