Emblem
Daniel L. Greathouse – A mentor to many, a friend to all. Daniel L. Greathouse went home peacefully on May 17th to be with the Lord, his beloved wife Kay, parents Otho and Blanche Greathouse, brothers Gene Greathouse, Glen and Iris Greathouse, sister Eloise and George Shrader and grandson Ryan Greathouse. Dan was born August 8, 1936 and graduated from Uniontown School in 1954 where he was a star athlete in basketball and football. He served in the US Army and was a member of Teamster Local 348 where he worked for Wm Reynolds Trucking for 30 years. He finished his working career at Killian Latex after 10 years. Dan spent 35 years coaching fastpitch pitching. He held 100 free clinics to pass on his knowledge of the sport. The number of success stories that Dan was involved in is countless. In retirement, Dan loved woodworking. He spent 8 hours a day 5 days a week building clocks, shelves, picture frames, and more. He enjoyed taking his pieces to area flea markets and meeting new people. Dan is survived by his children, Greg (Ramona) Greathouse, Elizabeth (Gaymon) Davis, Jeff (Svetlana) Bookwalter, Jenny (Grant) Metz; grandchildren, Tanya Sweeney, Benji Bookwalter, Sophie Bookwalter, Zack Metz, Jenna Metz, and Dani Metz; great-grandchildren, Michayla Sweeney, Mason Sweeney, Max Sweeney, and Natalie Metz; and sister-in-law, Lois (Gene) Greathouse. Per Dan's request, cremation has taken place with no services to be held. Greg and Elizabeth would like to thank the team at Cleveland Clinic Hospice for all the care and support they provided for us.
