David R. Hess

David R. Hess, 81, passed away June 29, 2026.

Born in Akron on June 27, 1945, he graduated from Garfield High School and was a resident of Marlboro Township. Dave served in the United States Air Force and was employed with Goodyear Tire & Rubber for 28 years. Sports were a big part of Dave’s life. He loved Ohio State football and basketball and enjoyed coaching baseball in his younger years.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Katherine; sister, Cathy Jones; and brother, Sonny Hess. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cathy Hess; children, Jason Hess and Stefani Ippolito (Jim); grandchildren, Cassie Kieffer (Jacob), Nick Ippolito, Savannah Hess, and Aiden Hess; siblings, Richard Hess (Darla) and Diane O’Dear.
