David D. Traugh

David Douglas Traugh, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on April 21, 2025.

He was born in Akron, Ohio, the only child of Charles and Madeline Traugh. He lived most of his young life in Rinehart, West Virginia, and graduated from Wallace High School.

Dave loved his country, and he was a Veteran of the Korean War.

Dave started a successful photography business, D. D. Studio, which he operated for about 40 years. When he retired, he began to buy and sell homes and established his business of D. D. Homes.

In the summers he loved to garden and share his vegetables with many people. Dave felt that God had richly blessed him so he always wanted to share with others, saying you could never out give God. He was a member and usher for many years at the former Akron Baptist Temple and currently a member of Village Baptist Temple in North Canton.

David was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nancy (Wallace) and daughter-in-law Melody Traugh. He is survived by his children Mary Ann (Marc) Craig, Carol Traugh, David (Kristy) Traugh, and Charles (Peg) Traugh; grandchildren Stephanie Colebank, Kasey (Mike) Matty, Tiffany (Charles) Brinkley, Seth (Alyssa) Traugh, Matthew (Jillian) Traugh, Jason (Chachie) Craig, and Jonathan Craig; grandson of the heart, Cristian Chavez; nine great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Connie Dice.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 26, at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Larry Clayton officiating. Calling hours will be held Friday, April 25, 5-8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Funeral and Calling Hours will be held at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, Oh 44312. Military honors and burial will be at Hillside Memorial Park immediately following the funeral service.
