Dolores G. Griffiths

Dolores G. Griffiths, 82, fought the good fight and finished the race on Sunday, December 30, 2012. After battling cancer for years, she peacefully entered glory with her husband and family surrounding her. The family cannot thank the Summa Hospice staff enough for their loving care and guidance through this difficult time.

She spent her early years in the Ohio Valley, graduating from Bridgeport High School, and then attended the College of Practical Life where she majored in serving the Lord and rearing her family.

Dolores loved Mogadore and moved here in 1966. She thought the community would be a great place to raise a family. She soon became active at Mogadore Baptist Church and was known as a Prayer Warrior and served as Sunday School teacher, Women's Ministry officer and member of the Missions Committee.

She enjoyed journaling from an early age and chronicling the history of the church, her family and the community. She belonged to the Northern Ohio Covered Bridge Society and was the current President of the Mogadore Historical Society. She enjoyed history, gardening, traveling and camping, especially with her children and grandchildren.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved Sundays because she could hear the Word of God, fellowship with her church family and have family gatherings with her brood of some 35 people. She was all about sharing her faith and fostering family. "I have no greater joy than to know my children are walking with the Lord, and will join me at Jesus' feet."

Besides husband, Zane of 62 years, she leaves behind daughter, Meg [Margaret] (Richard) Messenger; sons, Wayne (Karen), Paul (Rachel Bowman), Glenn (Karen), Andy (Linda); nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services Saturday, 11 a.m. at Mogadore Baptist Church, 3750 Albrecht Ave., Mogadore, OH 44260 with Pastor Robert Seymour officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.  Friends may call at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Ave. (Route 532) MOGADORE, OH 44260 from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday; and at the church from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday.  PLEASE, NO FLOWERS but make generous contributions to Mogadore Baptist Church, Mogadore Historical Society, Summa Hospice Services or the Cancer Society.
