Dolores Dorothy Shirey (Fatica)

Dolores Shirey, age 86, passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday, May 9, 2025, at Vista Veranda Assisted Living & Senior Care, where she had been residing. She faced Alzheimer’s disease with quiet strength over the past several years, and though it gradually took her vitality, her spirit remained deeply loved and cherished.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate caregivers at Vista Veranda, whose dedication and kindness made a meaningful difference in Dolores’s final years.

Dolores devoted her life to her family as a full-time mother to four children and a loving presence in the lives of her grandchildren. She found joy in simple pleasures—walking the trails at Goodyear Heights Metropolitan Park and spending peaceful days in Amish Country.

She married Rex Shirey, on September 3, 1956. They shared many years together before his passing about four years ago.

Dolores is survived by her children: Dave (Vici) Shirey, Dan (Tammie) Shirey, Steve (Karen) Shirey, and Brenda Shirey; her grandchildren: Brian Shirey, Sandy Russ, Chelsea Westfall, Jacob Westfall, Angie Finch, and Hannah Shirey; and great-grandchildren: Aleah Sloan, Adam Haag, Harland Russ, Veda Russ, Nicole Shirey, Brayden Finch, Charlie Finch and Averie Finch.

A memorial service will be held at Victory Baptist Temple – 4167 State Route 43 – Kent (Brimfield) OH 44240 on Tuesday May 27th. Calling hours are from 5pm – 6pm. The service will be at 6pm.
