Donald M. Cruise

Donald M. Cruise, of Mogadore, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 20, 2021 at age 87. He was born February 21, 1934 in Suffield, Ohio and was the youngest son of Grover and Goldie Cruise. He grew up, unknowingly, across the street of his beloved wife, Hazel, of 58 years. He graduated from Suffield High School in 1952. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 43 years of service. He spent many years working alongside his brother, Richard, at the Cruise Tree Farm. He loved to travel the United States and visited every state throughout his life except Alaska. He enjoyed helping with family projects, cooking for his family and friends, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Those who knew him say he was a very kindhearted and generous man. Some of his most enjoyable moments were spent with his grandchildren. Proceeded in death by loving wife of 58 years, Hazel A. Cruise; brother, Richard Cruise. He is survived by his children, Rachel (Ronald) Pierce and David (Hannah) Cruise; grandchildren, Meghan (Jared) Morgan, Sarah and Preston Pierce, and Jennifer, Paxton, Garrett, and Chase Cruise; his loving Old English Sheepdog, Buddy; brother-in-law, Albert (Barb) Lester; sister-in-law, Andrea Lester; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Friends and family will be received 10:00-11:00 am Friday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 with Pastor Ben Adams officiating. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Mogadore immediately following. The family suggests memorials to the Portage Animal Protective League at 8122 Infirmary Rd. PO Box 927 Ravenna, OH 44266 in lieu of flowers
