Donald P. Jones III, 83, went home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2026.

Born in Akron, he graduated from Garfield High School. He was a resident of the Akron area until relocating to Houston, Texas. He returned to Akron in 2014. Don served in the United States Marine Corps and retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber with 38 years of service. He attended The Chapel in Green and enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing. Don loved to spend time with his family and working around his home.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Gladys Jones; son, Jimmy; sister, Julie Bartholet; and brother-in-law, Bob Rosen. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eleanor Jones; sons, Jeffrey and Michael Shreffler; daughter, Nicole Savage (Matthew); grandchildren, Elijah, Abel, and Justice Savage; sisters, Cindy Rosen and Sandy Shelestovich (Bob); brothers-in-law, Perry Bartholet and David Barnett (Beth); sister-in-law, Illona Hayes.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday, September 2nd from 11am to 1pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale St. NW, Uniontown, OH 44685. Funeral service will begin at 1pm with military honors and burial following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (Wounded Warrior Project).
