Elkins Pettit, 93, passed away July 14, 2012.

Born in Ira, W. Va. on Nov. 4, 1918, he served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a gunner on bombers, attaining the rank of Corporal. After discharge, he moved to Ohio and worked at B.F. Goodrich/Goodyear for 40 years. Mr. Pettit was a member of the URW and a charter member of Firestone VFW Post 3383. Elkins was a lifelong hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn JoAnn; sons, David Robbins of Tucson, Ariz., and Dennis (Mary) Robbins of Mogadore; daughter, Susan (Rob) Donath of Tucson, Ariz.; ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren that he loved dearly; brother, Bill (Lenora) Pettit; sister, Ruth Pettit; sister-in-law, Claris Pettit; and 11 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Ave., MOGADORE 44260, where funeral service will follow at 6 p.m., Pastor Brent Richards officiating. Military rites will be conducted following the service by Mogadore VFW Post 8487. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at Grandview Cemetery.
