Eric Lewis Dailey

October 11, 1959 — February 12, 2026

Akron

Eric was born in Akron, Ohio on October 11th, 1959. He unexpectedly passed away February 12th while recovering from an extended illness.

Although he faced many challenges throughout his life, he always maintained a spirited personality, and a unique approach to those things that he faced. He had a wry sense of humor that he did not share with all, but those he did appreciated, and he used it to deal with special circumstances he faced. He graduated from Ellet high school and went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Akron.

Eric loved literature in all forms and excelled in the written word himself. When he lost his vision, he continued to keep up with current film and books by listening to them and collected both throughout his life.He inherited a love of music from our mother and loved to sing, something he continued to do until his passing as hospital staff would tell me that they knew he was feeling better as they would hear him singing.

He can now sing every day, be without pain and at peace, with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents Gene and Mary Lou Dailey and survived by his sister Kelly Markunas. In helping him deal with the challenges of the past months, I saw glimpses of the boy he used to be and remembered the childhood bond we shared. He was my brother, and I loved him. He will be missed by all those who knew and truly cared for him.

There will be a service in the Chapel at Rose Hill Cemetery, Fairlawn Ohio, on Tuesday February 24th at 1:00pm
