Irene M. Daugherty

Irene M. Daugherty, 89, passed away peacefully at home, on July 30, 2025, surrounded by her children.

Irene was born on August 13, 1935 to Joseph and Helen (Klein) Wohlwend. She was a graduate of Suffield High School in 1953. She worked at Porter Metal Company for over 25 years until she retired in 2000. Irene served as a Lector at St. Joseph church where she was a lifelong member.

Irene was a selfless and caring woman, always showing love and compassion to those around her. Her strength was secured in her deep faith and was an enduring foundation for her family. Whether at Waterloo Road or Martin Road, Irene’s door was always open for great conversation and a cup of coffee…or a mixed drink.

Irene is survived by her children; Dale (Amanda) Daugherty, David (Tammy) Daugherty, Karen (Jeff) Roland, Daniel (Victoria) Daugherty; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sisters Jane Kordinak and Rose Herman; brothers Harry (Anita) Wohlwend and Joseph (Becky) Wohlwend; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter Cindy and son-in-law Jeff Smith; sisters Agnes Wartko and Mary Fouts; brothers William, George, James, and Albert Wohlwend.

Family and friends will be received Sunday, August 3rd from 3 to 6pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 4th at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2643 Waterloo Rd. Mogadore, OH 44260. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
