Janet M. Barr

Janet M. Barr, 85, passed away on December 12, 2025.

Born in Akron, she was a lifelong resident of the area. She graduated from Springfield High School and retired from Akron Public Schools after 18 years of service. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren. Janet loved to read, make cards, and adult coloring books. She liked being around people, often going out to eat and taking day trips to Amish country.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Barr; parents, Edward F. and Mona R. Matson; sister, Joyce Tallcott; and brother, Alden “Bitts” Matson. She is survived by her son Edward C. Barr and his wife Lisa M. Barr; sister, Judy Hudgins; sister-in-law, Chris Matson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the caregivers and staff at Mulberry Gardens Memory Care for the comfort and compassion they provided.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday, December 16th from 9:30 to 10:30am at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Funeral service will be held at 10:30am with burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
