Joan Gloria Brooke, 81 years, of Mogadore, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2021. She was born in Mogadore in a home by the spillway on June 12, 1940. She lived most of her entire life in the Village of Mogadore. Joan graduated from Mogadore High School in 1958. She received Y-teen All star status her senior year in basketball; the first female to do so in Mogadore. She worked for General Tire in the accounts payable department for 30 years. Joan was a member and deaconess at the Mogadore Christian Church. She was a member for 73 years. She enjoyed her family more than anything! She also enjoyed reading the newspaper, any book, crossword puzzles, word searches, and sudoku. Plus, the game of Jeopardy brought her joy and listening to her beloved Cleveland Indians games.
She was a devoted Mogadore Wildcat Backer in any sport or activity. She loved the Friday night lights and when her legs were unable to take her into the stadium she would watch from the Methodist Church parking lot from her car. When the CATS would score she would honk her horn in joy! Joan enjoyed vacation time with her family at the beach. She left a legacy of how to be a strong working woman while balancing a family and teaching her daughters that kindness matters. She always told her children and grandchildren do your best and everything will fall in place!
Preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Bessie Bennett; and her beloved husband, Frank Thomas Brooke; sisters, Ruth Briner and Evon Drawkulich; brothers, Gerald, Alvin, Calvin, Jack, and Eugene; grandchildren, Thomas and Donald Hibbard.
She is survived by daughters, Tammy (Andy) Roebken, Terri (Gerad) Long, Traci (Joseph) Oliver, Tricia (Mark) Hibbard; grandchildren, Brooke (Matthew) Morrison, Alexander (Olivia) Roebken, Katherine Oliver, Mack & Logan Hibbard; great-grandchildren, Harper and Maddox; brothers, Grant (Sue) Bennett and Jerome (Barb) Bennett; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Jim) Juhas, Myrtle Brooke, and special neighbor and friend Lynn Straight; and many nieces, nephews , friends and neighbors.
Friends and Family will be received Sunday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Donovan Funeral Home at 34 S Cleveland Ave Mogadore in care of Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home. Visitation on Monday at 12:00 PM with the service following at 1:00 PM. Burial to immediately follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Mogadore.
