Joanne E. Rienzi

Joanne E. Rienzi, 79, passed away February 8, 2026.

Born in Akron, she graduated from Hower Vocational School in 1964. She was an excellent cosmetologist and hairdresser, owning More Than A Cut salon in Portage Lakes for over 30 years. When she was younger she enjoyed reading Dean Koontz and going on cruises with her husband and friends.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph V. Rienzi, and her sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Azar Alessio. She is survived by her children, two sisters, and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Calling hours will be held Monday, February 23rd from 11:30am to 1:30pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association (action.lung.com)
