Joe Collins, 83, passed away on January 5, 2026.

Born in Iroquois, West Virginia, he was a resident of Akron and retired from Loyola of the Lakes. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Gracie Collins; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; in-laws, Robert and Mary Starn; and brothers-in-law, William and Robert Starn. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruthann; children, Catherine and James (Shannon); grandchildren, Joey, Dylan (Hannah), Justine, Christian (Kenzie), Josh; siblings, Eddie, Patty, and Susie (Dewey).

Family and friends will be received Friday, January 9th from 11 am to 1pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Funeral service will be held at 1pm with burial to follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
