John Henry Mast

John Henry Mast, age 75, of Hartville, Ohio, currently residing in Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed on December 12, 2020. John was a hard worker, a carpenter, a farmer. He loved gardening almost as much as he loved hunting and fishing. He was a faithful member of Pleasant View Mennonite church. Nobody was a stranger with John. He was friendly with everyone. The son of the late Henry Y. and Miriam (Gingerich) Mast, he is survived by his wife of 54 years, Iva (Wittmer) Mast. He was a loving and caring brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his seven children, five daughters and two sons, Elsie (Dallas) Martin of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Melinda (Ron) Burke of Aurora, Colo., Rachel (Mast) Erdie of Colorado Springs, Colo., Maryann (Bobby) Sands of Canton, Ohio, Carolyn Mast of Colorado Springs, Colo., Robert (Amanda) Mast of Vanleer, Tenn., and Jason Mast of Hartville, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, Michaela Burke, Joseph and Christian Erdie, Caleb and Alex Diaz, Cheyenne and Dyllan Sands, Brandin Williams, Conner, Kelsey, Aubrey, Rylan, Heidi, Kendrick Mast; three great grandchildren, Chloe, Serenity and Adalyn Malone. He is also survived by eight siblings, four sisters and four brothers, Melinda (Henry) Miller of Chestertown, Md., Martha (Melvin) Byler of Brooksville, Fla., Elmina (Sam) Miller of Charleston, S.C., Anna Mae (Eli) Hershberger of Dover, Ohio, Wayne (Wilma) Mast of Dover, Del., Jacob (Mary Ann) Mast of Tallahassee, Fla., Elmer (Mary Jane) Mast of Dover, Del., and Benjamin (Christine) of Dover, Del.; many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, and a host of cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by a great nephew, Mathew Kelly; great niece, Dakota Troyes; and parents. The services will be held at the Conservative Church in Hartville, Ohio. Viewing hours are Friday, December 18th, from 5 to 8 p.m. Services are on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Conservative Church in Hartville, Ohio.
