Kathy E Kreiner

Kathy Kreiner, Suffield Ohio, 81 years old passed away at Summa Health Care on September 26th, surrounded by her family. 

Kathy lived in Suffield with her husband Kyle for 64 years, and was a member of the Suffield UCC and the Suffield League. She taught Sunday school for years and planned many Christmas programs for the kids, and in later years her daughter Kris took over after the church moved to State Route 43. 

She also enjoyed making wigs for cancer patients in the Magic Yarn Project at the church. She was in charge of purchasing toys for the Suffield League’s annual Santa’s visit to the Townhall, helped set up and passed out gifts as well. She helped Kyle put up and take down the flags in Suffield over the years and always tried to keep them rolled up. She loved arts and crafts and the joy of vacations with family and putting together scrapbooks after each one. 

Kathy enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up and spent many hours with Kyle at sporting, theater, and music events. She enjoyed the theater and with Kyle enjoyed 17 years at the Akron Carousel Theater and was a long time member at Cleveland Playhouse Square and EJ Thomas Hall. She always wanted to renew each year because the seats were excellent. 

She loved sitting on the back deck catching sun rays and watching the birds and squirrels enjoy the seed and corn that she helped give them. In the past year she also enjoyed when the deer and turkeys paid us visits for dinner. Her love for the Wizard of Oz is overwhelming. She collected many items of the Wizard of OZ over the years and played Dorothy in the play at Brimfield School. She passed her love for this movie on to her grandson Matthew. 

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Evelyn Bryan, brother Gary and Grandson Matthew. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Kyle (Suffield); sister Paula Piland of Florida; daughter Kris (Kent) Doug; daughter Kim (Randolph) Mike; son Kurt (Kent) Missy; grandchildren Miranda, Tyler, Alex, Haley, Kory, Maggie, and Kolby; and 5 great grandchildren. In closing “ Somewhere over the Rainbow” will always be on hers and on our minds and memories. 

Calling hours will be Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 4pm to 7pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron.  Funeral service will be Friday, October 2, 2026 at 11am at Suffield United Church of Christ, 1115 State Route 43, Suffield, OH  with visitation one hour prior to service.
