Kay Kathleen (Southard) Campbell

"Together Again" Kay Kathleen (Southard) Campbell Kay Kathleen Campbell, age 85, of Uniontown, Ohio was welcomed into Heaven on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. Born on September 25, 1932 in Ashtabula, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ruth and Charles Earl Southard. Kay spent her early years in Conneaut, Ohio, later moving to Medina where she graduated high school in 1949. Kay earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Ashland College. Shortly afterward, she married her college sweetheart, Dale in 1953. Kay was a dedicated teacher in Ashland City Schools, and later in Springfield Local Schools at Schrop Junior High School where she spent 29 years teaching history and English. Kay received a master’s degree early in her teaching career from Kent State University in 1957. In addition to her love of teaching, Kay was very active in her church and other organizations. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Uniontown since 1961. Kay was also a member and past officer of the Society of Mayflower Descendants of Ohio (Western Reserve Colony), DAR (Canton Chapter), Colonial Dames of the 17th Century (John Macintosh Chapter), and War of 1812 (Madison McKinley Chapter). Kay was a loving, devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin and friend. She will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by her husband, Dale in 2015, Kay is survived by her daughters, Lynn (Thomas) Clay of Jacksonville, Fla. and Lori (Larry Jr.) Hart of Uniontown, Ohio; grandchildren, Alaina (Ben) Smith, Brianna (Ryan) McFarland, Cassandra Clay, Jonathon (Rachele), Joshua and Jessica Hart; great-grandchildren, Jonathon Jr., Eleanor and Gwyneth; cousins, William (Phyllis) Kidder and Evie Kidder and family. A special thanks to nurses Nancy and Cheryl, and to all who cared for Kay at GreenView Inn, Heritage Villas, Sanctuary Grande, Crossroads and Community Hospice. Friends and family will be received Thursday (TODAY), from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) Funeral Service will be Friday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jeffrey Nelson officiating. Burial will take place Monday, 10:45 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
