Lillian G. Lopez

Lillian Lopez, age 99, left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on August 17, 2025. She was a long-time resident of the Canton Christian Home, and will be greatly missed.

Lillian was born in Manchester, Ohio where she spent her early childhood. At age 7, she moved to Canton, later attending McKinley High School and happily working in Stell’s Confectionery. During WWII, she was employed by Republic Steel as a crane operator. Throughout the years, she worked at several restaurants, and various businesses started by her husband: most notably Arlin’s Greenhouse in the Canton South area. She was skilled at flower arranging and making corsages.

Lillian was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple and enjoyed reading her Bible, attending Bible studies, and sharing her faith with others. She had a deep commitment to God. As a Girl Scout leader, she encouraged young girls with her smile and kindness, teaching by example.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alberta and Frank Johnson, husband Joe A. Lopez, and daughters Linda Sue, Sharon Lee, and Carol Lynn.

Lillian is survived by son, Mike Lopez (Brenda), daughters Cheri Sandor (Jeff), Debbie Rose, and Peg Stewart; grandchildren: Trisha McCaw (John), Eric Sandor (Melissa), Tony Sandor (Nicole), Jenny Bridgforth (Will), Jessica Olenzack (Sig), Jonathan Schmidt, Brian Schmidt, (Jenny Beckwith). She has 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

We extend our thanks to the Canton Christian Home for years of love and care, and especially to those nurses and aides who helped her pass from this world to the next.

Services will be held on Friday, August 22nd at 11am at Arnold & Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home, 4817 Cleveland Ave NW, Canton, OH 44709. Visitation will take place an hour prior beginning at 10am. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
