Margaret Lucille “Lou” Yerrick, 80, passed away on May 19, 2026.
Lou was born in Canton and lived in Uniontown for many years and is a graduate of Lake High School. She lived in Ft. Myers, Florida for 35 years and returned to Uniontown in 2016 with Doug, her husband of 53 years. She was the executive director for the American Diabetes Association, a real estate broker, and owner of Acheron Associates in Fort Myers, Florida.
She was known for her sharp wit and tenacious spirit. She had a great love for dogs, especially for her “grand-dog” Freddie. She enjoyed Saturday college football and rooting for her favorite team, the LSU Tigers. She adored all of her grandchildren, known as Momma Lou to Jayne and Stanley, and her greatest joy to date was becoming a great-grandmother, known as GiGi, to Blaze and Winnie. Additionally, she leaves behind 75 years of friendship with Ellen (Martz) Perkins.
Preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Margaret (née Gerber) Shipley; husband, Douglas; and son, Andrew. She is survived by her son, Jon (Jeanette); daughter, Beverly (Kent) Evans; grandchildren, Clayton (Ashley), Rynn, Jayne and Stanley; great-grandchildren Blaze and Winnie.
The family would like to extend deep gratitude to the staff at Pebble Creek Healthcare Center for their professionalism, compassion, and daily kindness to Lou’s comfort. Additionally, special thanks is to be given to Summa Hospice Care for providing dignity and peace to Lou and her family.
The family will hold a private memorial for Lou at a later date.
