Marie H. Auten

Marie Helen (Metzger) Auten of Mogadore, Ohio passed away peacefully on September 3, 2022 with her two daughters at her side.

Marie was born in Akron, Ohio on December 24, 1934, to Ruth and John Metzger. She was a North High School graduate, and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, George Auten, and her son Stephen. She is survived by daughters Cheryl (David) Hughes, Pamela (David) Datsko; grandchildren Laura (Bill) Axline, Erik (Kristina) Datsko, Lesli Miller, Stephen (Allee) Hughes, Kelli Datsko, Matt Datsko, Hannah (Eli) Blakley; and 10 great grandchildren - Korey, Emma, Graham, Ayden, Evan, Cole, Charlotte, Taylor, Bodhi and Lylah.

Marie was a preschool teacher, a dedicated caretaker to everyone in her extended family, and an immaculate homemaker. Marie devoted many hours each week to helping her husband in his duties as an Athletic Director and coach at Ellet High School - and you would often find her by George’s side at Ellet sporting events. She attended Oak Hill Presbyterian Church. The family would like to thank St. Edwards of Green for their loving care the last 2 years of Marie’s life.

Friends and family will be received Friday, September 9^th, from 12 to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. at the Hopkins Lawver UNIONTOWN Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Avenue), Uniontown, Ohio 44685. Private family interment will take place at Hillside Memorial Park.
