Mary Elizabeth Stager

Mary Elizabeth Stager, 97, went home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2026.

Born in Mound Valley, Kansas, to Ralph Willard Peoples and Pressie Mable (Updegraff) Peoples. Mrs. Stager was a 1946 graduate from Carthage High School in Missouri. Mary married her husband Carl T. Stager May 2, 1947. They were married for 57 years before his passing July 26, 2004. She was a homemaker whose interests included: antiques, traveling, reading, crocheting, and gardening.

Preceded in death by her son, Joseph, three brothers Raymond, Ralph, and Robert and one sister Naola. She is survived by sons, Carl Jr and his wife Helen, Thomas and his wife Mary Beth; daughters, Carla Barnes and Beth Denham; daughter- in- law, Colleen Weast; grandchildren, Perry (Denise), Jessica (Kenny), Brad (Lori), Kelly (Phil), Brian (Gavin), Crystal (Eric), Ben (Rainbow), and Shannon; and many great and great-great- grandchildren.

Private funeral service at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron, with Chaplain Holly Spencer-Truman officiating. Burial at Hillside Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
