Melvin Ray Sells

Melvin Ray Sells, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 10, 2026.

Ray enjoyed woodworking, his dog, camping, and sitting by the fire. He was a reliable handyman and enjoyed working outside, taking great pride in taking care of his home.

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 ½ years, Judith Sells and his parents, Andrew and Gladys Sells. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki McPherson (Skip); son, Tom Smith; brothers, James T. Sells of Uniontown, Aaron Sells of Springfield, Gene (Patricia) Sells of Greentown, Randy (Penny) Sells of Barberton; best friend of 67 years, AJ Heil; great neighbors, Brian, John, Zack, Eric.

Family and friends will be received Thursday, July 16th from 11:30am to 1:30pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park, where a short committal prayer will be said at 2pm.
