Norman P. Gilbert

Norman P. Gilbert, 86, passed away on June 17, 2025.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Norma Gilbert; children, Kim (Don) Pennington, Randy (Karen) Gilbert, David Gilbert, Sharon (Tony) Ruggiero; grandchildren, Steven (Ashley) and Lindsay Pennington, Adam (Hannah Clayton) and Alexis (Cole Baldwin) Gilbert, Zachary (Toni) and Mario (Devin Mason) Milano; great grandchildren, Grant, Elena, Noah, Nolan, Raelynn; and brother-in-law, William Enders. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude and Carl Gilbert, and brother, Stanley Gilbert.

Norm was born in Akron and lived in the area his whole life. He graduated from The University of Akron and worked for A.J. Weigand’s for 28 years. He loved to play golf with his buddies and grandsons. Norm enjoyed going to the casino and was an avid Ohio sports fan. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Family and friends will be received Monday, June 23rd from 5 to 7pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 24th at 10am at Nativity of The Lord Jesus Catholic Church, 2425 Myersville Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
