Patricia A. Carson

Patricia Ann Carson, age 86, of Akron, died at home on March 22, 2026.

Born in Akron, Ohio on June 16, 1939, the daughter of the late Andrew and Betty Spellman.

Preceded in death by her husband Edward Carson, her sister Sr Marguerite Marie of Toledo, brother-in-law Leo Carson, and granddaughter Tricia Carson. Survived by children Dennis (Rhonda), Mike (Sonja), Tim, Steve, Eileen (Jason) Hostetler, Carol (Jed) Sawmiller; grandchildren Nathan (Kelly), Jeremy (Mary Ann), Mitchell, Lucas, Derek (Jenny), Scott (Gi Yoon), Jennifer, Nick and Ben Sawmiller. Great grandchildren Owen, Pierce, Oliver, Lyla, Ira, Evelyn, Miles, Katie, and Lucy, brother Thom (Jean) Spellman, sister-in-law Sandy and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A lifelong resident of the Akron area, she graduated from Garfield High School and was a founding member of Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church. She was passionate about volunteering, making over 1,000 quilts for Akron Children’s Hospital with Comfort Quilters, sewing pillow cases for oncology units, and completing other sewing projects for various charities. She also volunteered at the Akron Civic Theatre, assisted with recreational therapy at Edwin Shaw Auxiliary, and taught Sunday school. Pat enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, cross-stitching, travelling, and playing cards, especially Bridge. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, finding great joy in attending her grandkids’ school and sporting events, celebrating her family’s birthdays at Akron baseball games, and having “grandkids getaway weekends.” Pat’s kindness, generosity, and strength will continue to live on in those she loved.

Calling hours will be held Monday, April 6th from 4:30 to 7pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale St. NW, Uniontown, OH 44685. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 7th at 10am at Nativity of The Lord Jesus Catholic Church, 2425 Myersville Rd. Akron, OH 44312, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
