Richard R. Gillis, 72, passed away on July 2, 2025.
Born in Akron, he graduated from Hiram College. He worked for Dominion Gas Co. for 36 years and was a member of the Ellet Athletic Association. He enjoyed Ohio State football, golf, and traveling to Florida for the winters.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Gillis. He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Gillis; sister, Marla Gillis; and his best friend and companion, Dorathy Wilson.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday, July 9th from 1 to 2pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. A memorial service will begin at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org)
