Rita M. Lansinger (Elmerick), age 98, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026. She was born August 27, 1927, in Randolph, Ohio.
Rita was the fourth of eight siblings. She was preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy (Mike), Mildred (Bob), and Mary (Al), and her brothers Ray, Don (Celia), and Kenneth (Monte). She is survived by her sister Peg (Joe) and her sister-in-law Naomi.
On June 22, 1946, she married William Lansinger, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in commitment, partnership, and family. In 1950, Rita and Bill made their home in Mogadore, Ohio, which remained her home for more than 75 years. Bill preceded her in death in 2012.
Rita is survived by her children, Linda (Rodger), Dave, Deb (Norm), Barb (Mark), and Mike (Crystal); grandchildren Brian (Shannon), Nick (Marilyn), Erin (Mike), Michael (Michelle), Matthew (Megan), Mark, Casey (Doug), Sarah (Sheldon), Will, and Benjamin; and great-grandchildren Michael, Tori, Justin, Lauren, Payton, Coral, Kaleb, Eli, Sam, Gracie, Anna, Ali, Maverick, Micah, Graham, Cole, and Elaine.
Even at 98 years old, she remained fiercely independent, driving herself to play bridge three days a week and keeping her regular hair appointments. Rita was known for her quiet strength and resilience, and a sharp mind that never faded. Though reserved, she was strong-willed and spoke her mind, remaining a force of character until the very end. She will be remembered fondly and missed by all who knew her.
A memorial mass will be held Monday, February 9, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2603 Benton Street, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Father Don Serva celebrating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mogadore Fire Department (135 S. Cleveland Ave. Mogadore, OH 44260.
