Ruby J. Burdette

Ruby J. Burdette, 88, went home to be with the Lord on July 28, 2012.

Born in Coshocton, Ohio, she lived in Akron before moving to Columbus to be with her sister 5-1/2 years ago.

Ruby retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after working as an executive secretary. She formerly attended Arlington Memorial Baptist Church and Wedgewood United Methodist Church, and enjoyed cooking, decorating and entertaining others. Ruby always enjoyed giving the food she made away to others,

Preceded in death by her sister, Esther; and husband, Russell S. in 1997, Ruby is survived by her sister, Carole (Ronald) Statler; and nephews, David G. (Clara) and Mark A. (Patricia).

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44312, with Pastor Jeff Gindlesberger officiating.  Burial will take place at Hillside Memorial Park.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
