Suzanne Z. Houglan

Suzanne Zemonick Houglan, 63, died unexpectedly in her home in Copley, OH.

Suzie was born on May 12, 1962, in Akron and lived all her life there with a brief stay in San Diego, CA. Her parents were August and Shirley (Kurtz) Zemonick. She was a graduate of Garfield High School and the University of Akron. She worked for a while in banking, then as a customer service representative for a medical insurance company. When health concerns forced her to retire early, she missed the routine and felt that people who could work were lucky.

Those who knew Suzie are aware that she had many challenges throughout her life, yet she fought hard to beat the odds. She kept in close contact with her friends and family, sharing her daily escapades. She enjoyed music and what she called mindless television. She adored animals and had many “fur babies”. She had an especially soft spot for strays and always made sure they had food and water, sometimes bringing them into the fold.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents. Left behind are her sister and brother-in-law, Marianne and Don Young. In lieu of funeral services, her family will have a private interment at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery in Akron.
