Terry A. Thompson

Terry A. Thompson, 78, passed away April 21, 2026.

Born in Akron, he graduated from Springfield High School in 1965. Terry served 2 ½ years in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran, where he earned a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He came home to a job waiting for him at Goodyear Aerospace where he worked for 37 years until retirement.

Terry moved to Myrtle Beach, SC and called that home with Karen for the past 20 years, where they met many friends traveling between Key West, Fl in the winter and Lake Cumberland, KY in the summer and fall.

Terry was inducted into the Summit County Softball Hall of Fame in 2007 for his 20 years of Northeast Ohio Fast Pitch Softball accolades. He joins his father George, who was inducted in 1988. He enjoyed golfing, boating and traveling with Karen either on a cruise or in their motorhome.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, George and Jean; brother, Gary; wife, Karen; and daughter, Julie Davis. He is survived by his son, Steve (Lesa); son-in-law, Dan Davis; grandchildren, Lauren, Derek, Ryan, Katie, Chelsea; brother, Rusty (Cindy) Thompson; brother and sister in-law David and Denise Darrow. He will be missed as well by his niece and nephews.

Family and friends will be received Saturday, May 2nd from 2 to 4pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Funeral service will begin at 4pm. Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
